Leon Green, 82, of Rison, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at his home.
He was born January 31, 1930, at Cornerville, a son of the late W.A. Green and Icie Glover Green.
Leon married his love, Carolyn, on December 3, 1983. Mr. Green was the owner/operator of Green Logging. He enjoyed everything outdoors from working in the timber industry, hunting, fishing, playing gospel music and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Green was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Green; one son, Norman Green; one stepson, Tommy Crofford; one brother, J. W. Green; and also, two sisters, Geraldine Lloyd and Birdie King.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Owen Green of Rison; daughter, Pam Vance of Sheridan; two stepsons, Jim and Cynthia Crofford of Ringold, Virgina, Owen and Mendy Crofford of Watson; a brother, Floyd and Maybelle Green of Glendale; four grandchildren, Eric Vance, Tyler Crofford, Cayln Crofford and Cody Crofford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that loved and will truly miss him.
Funeral services were Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Bro. C.E. Van Ness and Bro. Calvin Terry officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Green, Jerry Lloyd, Tommy Green, Tim Green, Rex Stocks, and Matt Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Phil Green, Roy King and Wayne Parker.
Memorials may be made to Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Arrangements were by the Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
