Ray Cockrell

William “Ray” Cockrell, 82, of the Randall community near Rison, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Born December 24, 1934, in Bastrop, Louisiana, he was a son to the late Dent and Billie Blackmon Cockrell.

He was known to never shy away from hard work, having been a cattle farmer, owner of Rison Auto Sales and an employee of International Paper Company. Mr. Cockrell thanked God everyday for all that he had been able to accomplish in his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Cockrell and Ricky Cockrell; and a twin sister, Fay Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Cockrell of Randall; a daughter, Roxanne (Joe) Bradshaw of Randall; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Cockrell of Rowell; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Dosher Cockrell of Bastrop, Louisiana.

Graveside services were Friday, September 22, 2017, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the Randall community near Rison with Bro. Doney Blackerby officiating.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
