Jr. Lady Bears’ Free Throws Help Knock Off Jr. Lady Cats

WOODLAWN – Woodlawn hit 10-of-14 free throws over the final two quarters as the Junior Lady Bears used a second-half surge to put away the Rison Junior Lady Wildcats, 38-20, Monday afternoon at the Woodlawn Gym.

Woodlawn’s Vanesa Vinson and Rison’s Marquisia Johnson both had 3-pointers it the first quarter as the Lady Bears edged in front, 9-7, to start the second period. Woodlawn extended its lead to 14-10 by halftime.

The game was decided in the third quarter as the Junior Lady Bears reeled off 11 points while the Junior Lady Wildcats went scoreless. Woodlawn made 10-of-14 free throws in second half and 7-of-10 in the fourth to seal the victory.
