Christmas Village Market – Download Vendor Application
Indoor booths rent for $25. Each booth measures 10 feet by 10 feet and electricity will be available. Gray said booths will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. The market will open at 9 a.m. and continue through the evening festivities. Reindeer Dash 5K/1-Mile Run-Walk – Download Entry Form
The Reindeer Dash will consist of a 5K race followed by a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. Registration for both will begin at 8 a.m. with the 5K starting at 8:30 a.m. and the Fun Run/Walk starting at 8:45 a.m. The entry fee for the 5K Race will be $25 and those who register before Nov. 13 will be guaranteed a t-shirt with their entry. The fee for the Fun Run/Walk is $5. In addition, the Reindeer Dash will be holding a toy drive to benefit local children in need. Those who bring a new toy for the toy drive will receive an extra entry in the door prize giveaway for those participating in the Reindeer Dash.
Breakfast With Santa
Youth ages infant to 10 years old are invited to “Breakfast with Santa,” which will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the stage area at the Pioneer Village. The price of the breakfast is $5 per person (youth or adult) and includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Santa will be on hand as well as Christmas carnival games. The Santa visits will be set up to allow families to make their own photos.

The Main Street Cafe, the Cleveland County Herald and the Friends of Pioneer Village will be sponsoring the Christmas in the Village Gingerbread House Contest. There is no cost to enter – simply bring your decorated gingerbread house to the McMurtrey House at the Pioneer Village by 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. There will be three divisions in the contest: ages 5-10; ages 11-16; and ages 17 and over. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each division with first place receiving $25, second place $15 and third place $10. Winners will be determined by the donations each entry receives during the contest. A donation jar will be set up at each gingerbread house, and the entry that receives the highest amount in donations will be declared the winner for that division. Second and third place will be determined the same way. All donations collected through the contest will help support restoration efforts at the Pioneer Village.
The gingerbread houses will be set up throughout the McMurtrey House for viewing. Free hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be served along with Christmas cookies. For more information about the gingerbread house contest, call Sharon Gray at (870) 692-3130 or (870) 325-6567.
Pageants – Download Pageant Entry Form
Registration for the Christmas in the Village Pageant will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the pageants starting at 1:30 p.m. in the stage area at the Pioneer Village. Attire for the Christmas in the Village Pageant will be casual wear only. Attire can include both “off the rack” clothing or custom made. Pageant divisions include 0-11 months, 12-23 months, 2 years old, 3 years old, 4-6 years old, 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old, 13-15 years old and 16-20 years old. Pageant entry fee is $30 while the photogenic entry fee is $5 and all optionals (Prettiest Eyes, Smile, Hair, Fashion) are $10. Those who register before Nov. 25, can enter all contests for $40. Beans & Green Supper
Back by popular demand, the Beans & Greens Supper will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the stage area at the Pioneer Village in Rison.The meal is $8, which includes beans, greens, cornbread, dessert and drink. After the meal, those attending are encouraged to visit the historic structures that will be open for visitors.
Christmas Parade – Download Parade Application
The annual Cleveland County Christmas Parade sponsored by Rison Shine Downtown Development will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in downtown Rison. The parade will follows a route that begins at the north end of Main Street near the railroad tracks and ends near the Pioneer Village. The route will pass through the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills Nursing Home. FBT Bank & Mortgage will be awarding cash prizes to the top floats in two divisions: school division and non-profit division. Cash prizes in each division will be $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third. The school division will consist of any float entered by a school, class or school club. The non-profit division includes churches, civic clubs/groups, etc. Local businesses are also encouraged to participate. All parade participants are encouraged to use lights on their floats, and to avoid using a live Santa Claus in their theme. Santa will be in the parade, and will be available to visit with the children after the parade at the Pioneer Village. There is no cost to enter a float, but those who plan to participate are asked to complete a parade entry form beforehand.
The Cleveland County Community Theater will be hosting a live nativity that will feature live animals, actors in period costume and singing performances by members of the cast. Weather permitting, the live nativity will be held outside at the Pioneer Village after the parade. There is no charge to attend. Stacy Walz with the Community Theater said various people will be singing songs related to the Christmas story throughout the performance.
