RISON - The baseball and softball teams at both Rison and Woodlawn High School have earned bids to their respective regional tournaments that are scheduled to begin this Thursday, May 8.The Rison Wildcats took advantage of some aggressive base running to knock off the McGehee Owls, 4-0, last Friday evening to earn the ‘Cats their first conference title in 21 years. Rison will play Smackover in the first round of the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament at 3 p.m. at Ashdown High School.Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats will take a no. 3 seed into the Region 4 Tournament at Ashdown. They will play Smackover at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.The Woodlawn Bears will take the 8-2A conference’s top seed into the Class 2A Region 4 Tournament that is being hosted by Woodlawn. The Bears will meet Dierks in the first round at 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn.After winning both the regular season and district tournament championships, the Woodlawn Lady Bears will be the 8-2A’s no. 1 seed in the Region 4 Tournament at Woodlawn.
