Big Boy Locomotive Will Stop In Kingsland Monday

RISON - Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, is scheduled to make a "whistle stop" at the Maple Street railroad crossing in Kingsland at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16.The 132-foot long locomotive was built in 1941 and was used to pull heavy freight trains, without assistance from helper locomotives, over the Wasatch Mountains between Ogden, Utah, and Green River, Wyoming, according to the Rail.After making a stop at the Pine Bluff Museum Depot at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, the Big Boy locomotive will be in North Little Rock on Sunday, Sept. 15, before departing for Kingsland at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16. The train will be traveling through Rison on Monday morning before making its stop in Kingsland at 11:45 a.m. The public will have about 30 minutes to check out Big Boy up close before departing for Texarkana at 12:15 p.m. Monday....
