RISON - A barbeque cook-off, bingo and a game day are among the activities on tap for the 2024 Cleveland County Fair to be held Sept. 10-14 at the fairgrounds in Rison Once again, local crafters, artists, gardeners, photographers and other hobbyists will have an opportunity to win a little cash by participating in the county fair exhibit categories. A digital replica of the 2024 Cleveland County Fair tabloid, which includes information on fair activities and the exhibit categories can be found online at www.clevelandcountyherald. com. Also, printed copies of the tab are available at the Cleveland County Herald office (215 Main Street in downtown Rison) and the Cleveland County Extension office (501 East Magnolia in Rison).The tabloid also contains entry forms for the Miss Cleveland County and Little Miss pageants.This year's fair will include bingo on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12-13; a game day with bounce houses and dunking booth on Saturday, Sept. 14 leading up to the County Fair Queen Pageants and Talent Contest. Also on Saturday, Rison Shine will be hosting the Rison Barbeque Cook Off at the fairgrounds. The Cleveland County Fair Board encourages the public to enter anything from canned vegetables to artwork in this year's fair - and win a little cash in the process! Entries will be accepted Sept. 10-11.There is no cost to enter an exhibit at the fair, and the public can enter in as many categories as they like. Categories are wide ranging, including livestock, baked goods (candies, cakes, cookies, etc.), food preservation (canned fruits and vegetables, jams/jellies/preserves, pickles, relishes, dried foods and meats), hobbies, collections, crafts, hand-crafted sporting items (knives, game calls, fishing lures, etc.), fine arts and photography, plants and produce (vegetables, fruits), gourds, apiary (beekeeping), floral arrangement, Christmas decorations, pottery/ceramics, clothing, needlecrafts (sewing, crochetin...
