RISON - The Cleveland County Care Fund is collecting donations to help provide clothes and Christmas presents for those local families in need.
Malinda McKnight said all recipients of the Care Fund are referrals from local schools, churches and other organizations like the Department of Human Services. The fund raises money two ways during the holidays: cash donations and fundraising events.
McKnight said the program operates under the 501(c)3 nonprofit status of the Pioneer Village. All donations are tax-deductible and checks should be made to Pioneer Village with Care Fund written in the memo line. Donations can be mailed in care of Malinda McKnight, 10050 Hwy. 35 North, Rison, AR 71665; or dropped off the Cleveland County Herald office, 215 Main Street in downtown Rison.
The Cleveland County Care Fund has two fundraising events planned:
Christmas Bingo will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 2, during Christmas in the Village at the Pioneer Village. McKnight said they have some of the best prizes they have had in the history of the event, ranging from homemade baked goods and handmade crafts to gift certificates and gift cards. Christmas Bingo is open to all ages.
Christmas booth at the Party in the Park to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at FBT Community Park in downtown Rison before the Cleveland County Christmas Parade.
