CCSB Interviews Four Superintendent Finalists

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board interviewed the four finalists for superintendent this week at the administration building in Rison, Board President Harrell Wilson reported. Wilson said the board interviewed two candidates Monday night in executive session after finishing up the regular monthly school board meeting, and then met again Tuesday night to interview two more. The school board went into executive session at about 5:50 p.m. Monday and did not come out of executive session until after 9 p.m. The board's interviews on Tuesday extended beyond 9 p.m. as well. Wilson said he would like to see a replacement for current Superintendent Jerrod Williams selected by the end of this month in order to give the new hire some time to work with Williams on the transition. Williams' one-year contract expires June 30. The new superintendent will officially take over on July 1. Wilson said they received more than 10 applications for the position, and he said he felt they had a solid pool of candidates to select from. Those applying for the job included superintendents and building administrators from various size schools across Arkansas as well as one for Oklahoma. State law requires the school board to make its hire in a public meeting. Wilson said he will be calling a special meeting to make that hire before the end of the month. ...
