WOODLAWN - A poultry house located on Ryburn Road in the Woodlawn area was totally destroyed by fire Sunday evening, Aug. 25, according to Woodlawn Fire Chief Owen Rushing. He said the house, which did not have any chickens inside, was totally engulfed in flames and was starting to collapse by the time firefighters arrived at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. With the fire having destroyed that poultry house, Rushing said firefighters turned their attention to protecting another chicken house located next to it. The heat from the flames was hot enough that he said it melted the curtains on the second house. Rushing did not know the exact cause of the fire.
