RISON - Judy Johnson of the Woodlawn community reported the first sighting of a purple martin in Cleveland County on Tuesday morning, Feb. 28.
The sighting of the first purple martins is considered a sign that spring is just around the corner.
Johnson said she saw both a male and female martin Tuesday morning. She said they did not show up until March 5 last year.
