More Illegal Dumping on Dunkeffie Road Reported

RISON - After getting one illegal tire dump cleaned up in northern Cleveland County in May, Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings said another new tire dump was discovered over the weekend along Dunkeffie Road, this time just west of the railroad crossing. It is believed the tires were dumped there between noon Saturday, Nov. 23, and noon Sunday, Nov. 24. Cummings said the tires were dumped next to a county excavator that is being used to make drainage repairs along Dunkeffie Road.“I hope when we catch them, I will do everything in my ability to ensure every chargeable code is used to max allowed by law,” Cummings said about the illegal dump. He noted that the tires from the illegal dump in May were suspected to be from a tire shop in Jefferson County, pointing out that tire shops collect a disposal fee from customers to get rid of the tires. “If it is a tire shop, and I am quite sure it is, then there is theft from customers, littering and environmental pollution to name a few,” he said. Cummings asked any residents, motorists, deer hunters, etc.  who may have seen anyone hauling tires to that location to call the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 325-6222 or the County Judge’s office at (870) 325-6214. ...
