Rison School Now Taking Consent Forms for New Clinic

RISON - Mainline Health has announced that its new School Health Center on the Rison School campus will be opening soon to  provide one-site care for students and staff in an on-campus setting.Lauren Dougherty, PA, will be provide care for students and staff through the new on-campus clinic, Mainline announced.Doughtery is originally from Baton Rouge, La.  She graduated in 2021 from Mississippi College with a bachelor of science in biology (pre-med emphasis).  She then attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences at Shreveport for PA school and graduated in August 2024. Parents who wish to have their children visit the clinic will need complete a consent form in advance. Rison Elementary and Rison High School are currently accepting the consent forms. Also, online forms are available at www.mainlinehealth.net/school-based-consent-formCleveland County Superintendent Davy King said there is no exact date as to when the new clinic will be open.The Cleveland County School Board voted last July to enter into an agreement with Mainline Health after hearing a presentation from Mainline’s Ashley Anthony and Amanda Gilbert. It was noted that Mainline already has school clinics in the Dermott, Hamburg, Lake Village, Sheridan, Star City and Warren school districts. Mainline has a traditional healthcare clinic on Sycamore Street in Rison.Gilbert said during her presentation that all school clinics are staffed with nurse practitioners and offer general medical care.There is no direct cost to the district to have the clinic other than the district providing the space, electricity, cleaning and furnishings for the clinic. Those furnishings usually include  some chairs and a desk.
