Rison Students Presented with Johnny Cash Day Proclamation

LITTLE ROCK - The 2024 Johnny Cash Day in Arkansas Proclamation issued by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders was received by Cleveland County School District EAST Project leader, Kristie Saunders, along with students Owen Morrison and Lawson Kidd for their work in developing a digital Johnny Cash Arkansas Concert Map for his 38 concerts that occurred in the state from 1955 to 1996. During the past year, the CCSD EAST students have been working with the Kingsland Heritage project to document these concerts that include historic concert photos, news articles, and concert videos. Johnny Cash Concerts occurred throughout the state during his career that included 20 concerts in Little Rock and South Arkansas. His local concerts included the 1976 Bicentennial Concert at the Rison Football Field that was attended by 10,000, and the 1994 dedication of the new Kingsland Post Office that was attended by 3,000. While closing out the Kingsland Post Office dedication he told the large crowd "This has probably been the best day of my life, I love you and I love Kingsland." ...
