Rison Woman Dies In Traffic Accident

RISON - Sandra Coleman, 50, of Rison, died last Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, in a traffic accident along Hwy. 79  in Jefferson County just north of the Cleveland County line, according to Arkansas State Police. The 2011 Ford F350 pickup truck that Coleman was driving southbound crossed over the center line of the highway and collided with a log truck driven by Kimberly Nelms, 36, of Montrose, State Police reported.Nelms was injured in the accident and was transported to Jeferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff for treatment.Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear when the accident took place at 10:13 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, according to the accident report.The accident closed traffic along Hwy. 79 in both directions, requiring many to take a detour to get around the wreck.Coleman was the owner of The Main Street Cafe located on Main Street in downtown Rison. News of her death sent shockwaves through the community since her restaurant was a popular place for people to gather. The restaurant is currently closed.Coleman recently announced through social media that she was opening a new restaurant in the Watson Chapel area, and she recently started moving some of the furnishings from the Rison location.
