Vegetable Gardening 101 Workshop Saturday at Rison

RISON - Beginning gardeners are encouraged to attend the "Vegetable Gardening 101" workshop presented by the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Service from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street across the courthouse in Rison.

David West, agent for the Cleveland County Extension Office, said there is a $10 fee to attend, and the class size is limited to 30 participants. Call the Extension Office at (870) 325-6321 to register.

Speakers include:

  • John Gavin, the staff chair/ agriculture agent for the Bradley County Extension Office, will be discussing tomatoes and more.
  • Les Walz with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture will be discussing common mistakes made by home gardeners.
  • Britt Talent, organizer of the Arkansas Homesteading Conference, will be discussing raised bed growing methods.
