Veterans Dinner, Chili Supper, Haunted House On Tap This Saturday

Body

RISON - The Cleveland County Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, the first Johnny and June Chili Supper and Music Even, and a Halloween carnival and haunted house will all be on tap this Saturday for a busy day in Cleveland County.

Veterans Luncheon

Veterans and a guest eat free at the annual Cleveland County Veterans Appreciation Luncheon to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Rison.

Dorey’s will be catering a meal of catfish and chicken. The luncheon is open to the public with tickets being $15 per person available at the event.

John Blanchard, one of the organizers of the event, said all profits from the luncheon will support the Cleveland County Veterans Association and its efforts to place a bronze soldier statue in Veterans Park at Rison in honor of the late Danny Jacks of Rowell, a highly decorated Army Ranger.

After taking two years off and doing drive-thru during the COVID pandemic, Blanchard said the dinner will be held inside the exhibit hall at the fairgrounds this year and will include a special program. Takeout plates will be available.

Donations are also being accepted for the Danny Jacks Memorial and can be mailed to Cleveland County Veterans Association, c/o John Blanchard, P.O. Box 855, Rison, AR 71665.
