RISON - After making the move into its new facility earlier this summer, Rison Pharmacy and Wellness officially kicked off the opening of its new location in downtown Rison last Friday with an open house event.Lynn Wilson, owner of the Rison Pharmacy and Wellness, said the new building located at 301 Main Street is about twice as large as the old store located directly behind it at the corner of Pine and Third Streets.She said the larger space has allowed them to expand the gift items they offer as well as provide more space for over-thecounter medications and other health products.It also includes a space to conduct private pre-scription consultations and administering vaccinations.Like the old location, the new store offers a drive-through window for picking up subscriptions.The gift shop includes a variety of items like picture frames, handbags and purses, home décor, spices, clothing for infants through adults, baby items, specialty lotions and much more.In addition to the pharmacy and gift shop, there is also a new gym/fitness center attached to the back of the building called Rison Grind Gym and Fitness. The gym is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.The gym features weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, rowing machine and more. Wilson said a six station cable weight machine is coming soon as well as an infrared sauna and a tanning booth. Unlike the steam saunas that most people are familiar with, an infrared sauna uses infrared heaters that warms the body rather than the air around it like a steam sauna. This allows it to operate at cooler temperatures, usually around 100 to 140 degrees. Wilson said it is a better option for people who may have breathing issues with a traditional steam sauna.Rison Grind offers a variety of memberships including a one-day pass for $10, a basic monthly membership for $40, and a two-person family membership for $70.
