Fair Entries Can Earn Cash, Tabloid Available Soon

RISON - This year’s Cleveland County Fair is set for next month Sept. 10-14, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison.Now is the time to start thinking about entries, which will be accepted Sept. 10-11. The annual fair tabloid with a complete list of the categories is expected to be available online later this week, with printed copies available available next week.The Cleveland County Fair Board is once again encouraging the public to enter anything from canned vegetables to artwork in this year’s fair - and win a little cash in the process!There is no cost to enter an exhibit at the fair, and the public can enter in as many categories as they like. Categories are wide ranging, including livestock, baked goods (candies, cakes, cookies, etc.), food preservation (canned fruits and vegetables, jams/jellies/preserves, pickles, relishes, dried foods and meats), hobbies, collections, crafts, hand-crafted sporting items (knives, game calls, fishing lures, etc.), fine arts and photography, plants and produce (vegetables, fruits), gourds, apiary (beekeeping), floral arrangement, Christmas decorations, pottery/ceramics, clothing, needlecrafts (sewing, crocheting, quilting, etc.) and more.Those entries are then broken down into two divisions: a junior division for youth (ages 18 and younger) and a senior division for adults (ages 19 and older).In addition, the tabloid contains entry forms for the Miss Cleveland County and Little Miss pageants.All exhibits, excluding livestock/poultry and baked goods, must be turned in between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. Livestock/poultry entries will enter at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.Baked goods may be entered from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11Danielle Watson, the family and consumer science agent for the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension office, said many people don’t realize that they can win cash prizes for simply enteri...
