Halloween, Fall Events Set To Begin Saturday

RISON - Halloween and Fall-themed events across the county will begin this weekend with a fall festival at Woodlawn High School Friday night and events Saturday night in both Rison and New Edinburg.Woodlawn Fall FestivalThe Woodlawn Booster Club will host the festival in the school parking lot and football field from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25.Activities include trunk-or-treat, a costume contest, hayride, food, games and silent auction, face painting, jump house and more.Haunted HouseRison Shine Community Development, Inc. and the Pioneer Village, Inc. will join forces to host the Rison Haunted Village beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.Admission is $10 per person.Explore the Village’s haunted structures, plus navigate your way through a maze of scares.All proceeds will be split between the two community groups.The Haunted House will open for a second night, Thursday, Oct. 31.Re-New-ing Edinburg Fall Drive-ThruRe-New-ing Edinburg will host its drive-thru fall festival event Saturday, Oct. 26  from 6-7:30 p.m. at the New Edinburg Community Center.As families drive through the path created at the community center, candy and treats will be distributed.Rison Shine Trunk-or-TreatRison Shine Community Development, Inc. will host Trunk-or-Treat in Downtown Rison on Main Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.Those interested in participating should be set up on Main Street by 5:15 p.m.Rison Shine invites community groups, businesses, churches, and even families, to participate.Rison Shine is accepting donations of store-bought, individually-wrapped candies for trunk-or-treat.
