WASHINGTON, D.C. - Legislation in Congress to name the Kingsland Post Office after legendary American music icon and Kingsland native Johnny Cash is one step closer to becoming a reality after the U.S. Senate approved a bill to do so on Dec. 19.The U.S. Senate passed H.R.7180, legislation sponsored by Arkansas Fourth District Congressman Bruce Westerman, to designate the post office in Kingsland as the "Kingsland 'Johnny Cash' Post Office." The bill passed the House on June 3, 2024. The last step in the naming process is for President Joe Biden to sign the legislation into law. "I am immensely proud to hear that my bill to designate the post office in Kingsland, Arkansas, as the "Kingsland 'Johnny Cash' Post Office" has officially passed the Senate," said Westerman in a prepared statement. "This bill is a testament to the legacy Johnny Cash left behind through service to his country, his iconic music, and the deep impact he and his family have had on the Natural State.
