PINE BLUFF – Southeast Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare System (SABHS) is pleased to announce the first Mental Health Advocacy Awards Dinner, to be held at the Pine Bluff Country Club on April 12 at 6 p.m.Sherrie James said, “This year’s honorees work every day with a commitment to bettering the lives of Arkansans around them. It is only appropriate that we set aside one evening to recognize and show our appreciation to them.”The dinner will be an occasion to honor leading mental health advocates from each of the five Arkansas counties served by SABHS.Attorney Noel F. “Bud” Bryant of Jefferson County will accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for his selfless service to his community over the years. Bryant has exhibited his commitment to mental health advocacy as he served as the SABHS board chair for 28 years. Under his leadership, we have been able to network with legislators to lobby for improvements in Mental Healthcare.From Arkansas County, the Honorable B. Park Eldridge, Jr. will be acknowledged for his work as District Court Judge in Division 1 of the 16th Judicial District, which serves Brinkley, Clarendon, DeWitt, Gillett, Holly Grove, St. Charles, and Stuttgart. He has organized DWI specialty courts in his district with the goal of identifying addiction before a person’s actions lead to felonies then matching needs with the resources that can include peer support, rehabilitation services, counseling, probation, and testing.The honoree from Cleveland County is Britt Talent, owner and publisher of the Cleveland County Herald since 2002. A resident of Rison since 1992, Talent has been committed to bettering his community. Besides using his newspaper to inform county residents, Talent engages is several activities that benefit Cleveland County, including Cleveland County Cares, a charitable organization that provides Christmas gifts for children in need.Misti Douthit, APRN, is the honoree from Grant County....
