WOODLAWN - Des Arc pitchers struggled to find the strike zone Saturday as the Woodlawn Bears cashed in on 13 walks to breeze by the Eagles, 16-1, in four innings to cap off a non-conference double header at Woodlawn.The Bears took control early, plating 11 runs in the bottom of the first as 17 batters went to the plate. Woodlawn had seven hits and drew six walks in the explosive start to the game.Garrett Weatherford, Peyton Wells and Tate Hall all had doubles while Cash Hargis, Logan Clark, Hollis Holderfield and Parker Arnold had singles.After Des Arc scored its lone run in the second, the Bears added four more runs in the third to make it 15-1 using hits by Holderfield and Hargis among one walk, two hit batters and an error. With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Kane Mills stole home to score the 16th run and invoke to the 15-run rule to end the game.Ty Motes started on the hump for Woodlawn and picked up the win. He gave up five hits, no walks and struck out one over three innings. Clark did not allow a hit or walk while striking out two in finishing the fourth.The Bears improved to 11-2 overall with Saturday’s victories.
