RISON - Cleveland County Clerk Brandy Herring wants to residents to be aware that a new state law going into effect this Tuesday, Aug. 5, will impact the process and cost for recording deeds.Beginning August 5, 2025, Act 752 requires anyone submitting a deed in person or by mail to: · Be a grantor listed in the deed, or · Be someone who signed on the grantor's behalf · Provide a valid government-issued photo ID (a copy is required to be filed with each deed which will add an additional $5 to the filing fee.)Deeds submitted without proper identification will be rejected, the law states.There are some exemptions from the new ID requirement. Those include: Deeds submitted through electronic recording (Cleveland County is not currently an e-Recording County.)Attorneys Licensed real estate professionals Lenders · Title agents Government entities Herring said filing fees are $15 for the first page and $5 for each additional page....
