The City of RISON and the Cleveland County Veterans Association are pleased to introduce our new M60 Army Tank to Veterans Park. I would like to recognize some of the key individuals who made this historic event come to fruition.
First of all the late Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings for planting the seed for a new entry to the Park and the Veterans group led by Randy Morgan, who was relentless in his search for what evolved from an airplane to a massive M60 Desert Storm era Army Tank. Foster Towing loaded the tank in Hamburg and Grace Railroad Contractors transported, unloaded and precisely placed the tank on the new display concrete pad. The Arkansas State Highway Patrol for a safe escort and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and the Rison Fire Department for traffic control!
The following played significant roles in making this happen, John Varnell, Frank Wilson, Arkansas State Rep Mike Holcomb, and Union Pacific Railroad.
We are proud and excited about all the excitement and renewed interest in Veterans Park. Please come visit our park, walk the trail and read the names that have been added to pedestals of those who have served to protect our American Freedom.
