Weather Likely Cause For Power Outage at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - Stormy weather that included lightning likely caused equipment damage that resulted in a 36-hour outage for Entergy Arkansas customers in Kingsland, according to En‐tergy communications specialist Brandi Hinkle. Hinkle reported that the power outage began at about 10:20 a.m Saturday morning and lasted un‐til about 10:22 p.m. Sunday. After the initial outage, she said onsite testing determined that the substation transformer had failed and required a mobile transformer to be moved to Kingsland from Little Rock. Hinkle said a crew of about 60 worked most of the weekend to safely restore power. “Customers will likely experience power disruptions in the coming weeks as repairs to the substation occur,” Hinkle said. “But they will be planned outages of shorter duration, and affected customers will be notified before the work begins.” “Fortunately I had a generator,” said Kingsland Mayor Sharon Crosby, “But the outage was an inconvenience for so many without one.” Crosby said the outage impacted the local store and church services Sunday, noting some made do, holding services without electricity....
