AHSCS Motorcycle Race To Be Held In Aug. at Woodlawn

WOODLAWN - The Screamin’ Chicken Hare Scramble motorcycle race will be returning to the Woodlawn area on Aug, 26-27, one of the organizers of the event has announced. Donald Mull of Herbine, who is working with the Arkansas Hare Scramble Association to promote the event, said the scramble is returning to its original location at the end of Wooley Road near the Woodlawn community. Hare scrambles are a form of off-road motorcycle racing that uses a course set up within the natural terrain of an area of land. Mull said the course for the August race will encompass about 100 acres.  Riders ranging from youth to senior citizens will be competing in various classes at the race. Mull said they had about 100 riders at the event last year, with an estimated crowd of about 200 to 300 people overall. The Screamin’ Chicken was held off Rye Cut-Off Road near last year, but Mull said they decided to move it back to the original location off Wooley Road.  The race is part of the Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series. Mull said practice will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, with the races held on Sunday, Aug. 27.
