Police Investigating Two Copper Thefts In Downtown Rison

RISON - The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating two recent break-ins in downtown Rison involving the theft of copper. According to Chief Deputy Gary Young, Jerry Footes contacted the Sheriff's Department on Friday, Feb. 2, to report that his store at 203 Main Street had been entered. "Deputies responded to the location and determined that the suspect(s) had forcibly entered the store and that a quantity of copper had been stolen," Young said. A second incident occurred Monday, Feb. 5, when Young said Mark Morris contacted the sheriffs office to report a storage building used by Shopwise Grocery in downtown Rison had been forcibly entered and that a quantity of copper had been stolen from the building.
