RISON - Rison Shine Community Development, Inc., has announced the postponement of the Rison BBQ Cook-Off and Rison Shine Pageant, originally set for this Saturday."Due to low entries and feedback based on scheduling around the eclipse, we are postponing the Rison Shine Pageant to summer and the Rison BBQ Cook-Off to late fall," said one of the organizers, Douglas Boultinghouse. Boultinghouse said Rison Shine initially planned the April 6 date for the two events to coin-cide with the Great North American Eclipse the following Monday."The rest of the state of Arkansas, specifically those in the path of totality, had the same idea," he said. "We started hearing from multiple people and BBQ vendors who wanted to participate, but were already committed to events in other places." Rison Shine will meet Monday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Herald office to discuss these events and other topics. The meeting is open to the public....
