Bears Batter Smackover; Fall at Malvern

SMACKOVER - Tate Hall went 4-for-4 with six RBIs as the Woodlawn Bears hammered the Smackover Buckaroos, 16-6, in five innings Tuesday afternoon at Smackover.Woodlawn improved to 20-5 overall with the non-conference win. The Bears are 5-0 in 8-2A conference play.Peyton Wells set the tone early for Woodlawn as he led off the top of the first with a homerun. Hall followed with an RBI single and Hollis Holderfield had a two-run double to put the Bears up 4-0 in the opening frame.The Bucks answered with a couple of runs in the bottom of the first to make it 4-2.Hall had a three-run homerun in the second before Cash Hargis knocked in another run with a double to make it 8-2.Mason Edmonds had a tworun triple in the third before Hall drove in another run with a single and Garrett Weatherford followed with an RBI triple to push the Bears' lead to 12-2. Weatherford and Holderfield eventually scored on an error to make it 14-2.Hall drove in another run with a double in the fourth before Smackover plated three runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 15-5.Ty Motes had an RBI single in the fifth for Woodlawn's final run. The Buckaroos did score a run in the bottom of the fifth but it wasn't enough to avoid the 10run rule.Hall's four hits led a Woodlawn lineup that hammered out 13 hits over five innings. Wells, Weatherford and Motes all had two hits apiece.Motes pitched all five innings for the Bears to get the win.
