Jr. Bears Suffer First Loss To Strong in League Opener

STRONG - The Strong Junior Bulldogs used their size and speed advantage to hand the Woodlawn Junior Bears their first loss of the season, 30–0, last Friday afternoon in a South Conference game at Strong. The Junior ‘Dogs were, on average, about six inches taller or more than their counterparts on the other side of the line of scrimmage. And Strong had plenty of speed to go with that size as they scored on runs of 69, 73 and 80 yards to go with a touchdown pass that went for 63 yards. Despite the Junior Bulldogs size and speed advantage, the Junior Bears still had some success on offense. After Strong went up 8-0 on its first possession of the game, Woodlawn answered with a long, sustained drive that used 12 plays to march from the Junior Bears’ 43 to the Strong 5. However, a tackle behind the line of scrimmage on third down, and a turnover following a high snap on fourth down wiped out the drive. Woodlawn went on to have drives end at the Strong 25, 22 and 34 yard lines. Ethan White managed to churn out 80 yards on 13 carries to lead the Junior Bears in rushing.
