Lady ‘Cats Struggle In Loss To DeWitt

RISON - Rison struggled to get anything going against DeWitt pitcher Neci Hill as the Lady Dragons rolled to a 10-0 win over the Lady Wildcats Tuesday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Field.It was a matchup between the top two teams in the 8-3A conference standings. By virtue of the victory, DeWitt moves to 6-0 with a two-game lead over Rison. The Lady Cats are 4-2 while McGehee is 2-2.Hill held Rison to just one hit, that being a one-out double by Haven Simpson in the second innings. She walked three batters.DeWitt scored three runs in the top of the first using a hit batter, a walk, a single and an error. The Lady Dragons added three more in second off a double, a single and an error to make it 6-0.Four singles and a sacrifice fly made it 9-0 in the fourth, and DeWitt invoked the 10-run rule after scoring a run in the fifth off three singles.Carlese Johnson pitched all five innings in taking the loss for the Lady 'Cats.Despite the setback, Rison is still in position to finish second in the conference, and claim the no. 2 seed going into the Region 4 Tournament.
