Rison Track Teams Compete at State

PRESCOTT - Rison’s Christian Reeves, a sophomore, won the high jump at the Class 3A Arkansas State Track Meet held last Tuesday at Prescott. As a result of his win, Reeves will competing in the Arkansas Meet of Champions today (Wednesday, May 14) at Searcy.Reeves cleared 6 ft., 4 inches to take the championship by an inch over Kolby Hurst of Flippin and Dakota Mattson of Booneville. Hurst and Mattson were both seniors. It was the same height Reeves cleared at the district meet at McGehee to win the same event the week before.Also, the Rison girls’ 4x800 relay team finished 11th at the state meet with a time of 12:39.48. That team consisted of Kayla Jackson, Josie Farrer, Mercy Cer and Enna Linn, but Madelyn Peyton had to substitute for Mercy Cer at the state meet.The boys’ 4x200 relay team also qualified for the state meet but did not compete due to extended lightning delays at the meet.District TournamentChristian Reeves won the high jump in the boys’ District Track Meet while Kayla Jackson, Mercy Cer and the Rison girls’ 4x800 relay team of Kayla Jackson, Josie Farrer, Mercy Cer and Enna Linn took first in their respective events at the district meet.Here are the results from the Class 3A Region 8 Track Meet held April 29 at McGehee High School:Boys100 Meter Dash - 3.
