Woodlawn To Face Genoa Central Next Friday, Sept. 15

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer announced Tuesday that the Bears will playing the Genoa Central Dragons rather than Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds for the varsity game at 7 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 15, at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. Meyer said the Junior Bears are still scheduled to play a junior high game against Guy-Perkins at 5 p.m. He said Guy-Perkins' coaching staff informed him they did not have enough participation to field a varsity team at this time. Genoa Central was one of the Class 3A schools to join the eight-man football ranks last year, and ended up posting the school's first winning record in football at 5-4. The Dragons started football in 2010. Genoa Central dropped its season opener last Friday to Spring Hill, 14-12. ...
