RISON - One thing that Dustin Prescott got to do while he was working as a high school football coach was see first hand what other schools were doing to cultivate their tradition. And one thing that he saw that he really liked were the Hall of Fames that some of the high schools he worked at had put together. “Some of them were a big deal, some of them weren’t,” he said.Prescott said he felt that with all the great athletes and coaches that have come through Rison High School, it was only logical that RHS should have its own hall of fame. Phillips is serving as the Rison High School Hall of Fame coordinator.Prescott, who is president of the Rison Booster Club, said he looked a lot of models before deciding on one that gets the community involved plus serve as a fundraiser to help the booster club support RHS athletics. What they eventually came up with was creating a committee that puts forth 10 candidates for induction in the hall of fame each year. Phillips said each class will consist of either six individuals, or four individuals and one team.Prescott said booster club members will be receiving notification of the first 10 nominees later this month. Voting will end in early November. While some paper ballots will be available, Prescott said most of the voting will be online. He said they are in the process of setting up an online platform that will be able to identify the booster club members and allow them to vote.Prescott said there are currently about 100 booster club memberships, which he noted includes both the member and their spouse.
