Accident Along Hwy. 63 Claims Two, Injures One

RISON - Two people from the Randall area died while another person from the Woodlawn area was seriously injured in a twocar accident last Friday afternoon, Nov. 3, along Hwy. 63 just north of the Cleveland/Jefferson county line, Arkansas State Police reported. Zahlei Cung, 44, and Sung Vang, 43, both of the Randall area, died when the 2016 Toyota Highlander they were traveling in collided head-on with a 2022 GMC Canyon pickup truck driven by Sherry Turner, 63, of the Woodlawn area. According to the Arkansas State Police accident report, Cung, the driver of the Toyota, was driving northbound while Turner, driving the GMC pickup, was southbound when the two vehicles collided at the front bumpers. Vang was a passenger in the Toyota. Turner was the only person in her vehicle. The report stated that the accident happened at 12:52 p.m. Friday just north of the county line in southern Jefferson County. Road conditions were reported to be dry and the weather was clear at the time of the accident. The Jefferson County coroner's office responded to the scene while Turner was transported by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, according to the report. There were reports from local residents that Hwy. 63 was closed for an extended period while the accident scene was being cleared, resulting in lengthy traffic back-ups in both directions. ...
