RISON - Despite the rainfall over the weekend, Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings said the county remains under a burn ban until further notice.Cummings issued the burn ban on the morning of March 20, stating that it is his intentions to leave it in place until the county receives about 1 inch of rain. The ban came after a rash of wildfires in the county and region on March 19.In issuing the order, Cummings said the extended dry period coupled with low humidity left vegetation in a very dry state. The county received about a quarter inch of rain Friday night into Saturday morning.Cummings said he consults with the Arkansas Forestry Commission in issuing burn bans.Forecasts are calling for rain to begin today (Wednesday, April 2) and continue through Saturday.
