GURDON - The Rison Wildcats dropped an 8-5 decision to the Gurdon Go Devils Tuesday afternoon in an 8-2A conference game at Gurdon.
Rison fell to 2-4 in conference play with the loss and 7-6 overall. Game details were not avialable at press time.
Rison 6, Smackover 4
RISON - After seeing an early three-run lead evaporate, the Rison Wildcats bounced back to knock off the Smackover Buckaroos, 6-4, in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Wildcat Field Saturday.
After Brock Southerland walked, Lawson Kidd singled and Blaine Dixon walked to load the bases in the bottom of the first. Andrew Couture then drew another walk to score the game's first run, and after a infield fly for the first out, Jud Terry and James Jacobs were both hit by a pitches to add two more runs to make it 3-0.
Smackover tied the game in the top of the fourth when the Bucks sued three singles, a hit batter and error to plate three runs and draw even, 3-3.
The 'Cats regained the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth when James Mitchell scored on a passed ball with two out, making it 4-3.
Owen Morrison's sacrifice fly and Ayden Laws' RBI single in the fifth extended the Wildcats' lead to 6-3.
The Buckaroos scored on a passed ball in the sixth to make it 6-4.
Rison used four pitchers in the game with reliever Jared Saeler ending up with the win.
Morrison pitched the first three frames, giving up two this and three walks while striking out two. Saeler came on for one inning the fourth inning, allowing three hits, no walks and striking out two. Southerland threw the next two innings, scattering three hits with two walksa and two strikeouts. Dixon did not allow a hit or walk while pitching the seventh.
Laws was the leading hitter for the Cats, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Kidd and Jacobs had the only other two hits for Rison.
