CCSB Asks for Letters From Zone 4 Candidates

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board is seeking letters of interest from those who are interested in completing the unexpired term of Zone 4 board member Stan Sadler, whom the board officially accepted his resignation Monday night. Whoever is selected will serve until the May 2025 school election. The person appointed can run for a five-year term at that time. Sadler turned in his resignation to Superintendent Jerrod Williams on Nov. 16, but it did not become official until the board accepted it during the regular monthly meeting Monday night. Those who apply for the vacancy must reside within Zone 4 (description below). Williams said letters of interest should include the candidate’s qualifications, address and background (education, employment, school service, etc.). The letters can be dropped off at the Cleveland County School District administration office at 700 Main Street in Rison, or it can be mailed to Zone 4 Vacancy, c/o Cleveland County School District, P.O. Box 600, Rison, AR 71665. After verifying with the Arkansas Department of Education, Williams told the board Monday night i will have an opportunity to review and meet with the candidate^) in executive session before making a decision. He said he plans to address the vacancy during the board’s next meeting scheduled for Jan. 16. Zone 4 includes the outer region of the City of Rison as well as an area north of town between Hwy. 79 on the west and Hwy. 133 to the east. The northern portion of the zone is dissected by the railroad tracks with Mt. Carmel Road/Unionville Road serving as the northern boundary west of the tracks, and Dunkefffie Road as the northern boundary east of the tracks. The southern boundary is roughly the Rison city limits. Within the City of Rison, Zone 4 encompasses the area outside central residential district.
