RISON - Ulyess Chandler, Jr., 65, of Pine Bluff, died last Monday, Sept. 9, when he was struck by a pickup truck while flagging around a construction zone on the southbound side of Hwy. 79 at the Saline River bridge south of Rison.According to the Arkansas State Police website, Chandler was struck by a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck that was heading south on Hwy. 79 at about 3:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9. State Police did not release the name of the driver of the pickup. Cindy Murphy, spokesperson for the Arkansas State Police, said the incident is still under investigation, and the State Police will turn over its findings to the prosecutor's office. Road conditions at the time of the incident were reported to be clear and dry, according to the State Police report.A stretch of Hwy. 79 south of the Saline River bridge had been reduced to one lane on Sept. 9 as a crew paved the entrance road to the refurbished parking area at the Pool Access on the river....
