RISON - This year's Cleveland County Fair is set for next week, Sept. 13-16, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison, with entries for various judging categories being accepted next Wednesday.
The Cleveland County Fair Board is once again encouraging the public to enter anything from canned vegetables to artwork in this year's fair - and win a little cash in the process!
There is no cost to enter an exhibit at the fair, and the public can enter in as many categories as they like. Categories are wide ranging, including livestock, baked goods (candies, cakes, cookies, etc.), food preservation (canned fruits and vegetables, jams/jellies/preserves, pickles, relishes, dried foods and meats), hobbies, collections, crafts, hand-crafted sporting items (knives, game calls, fishing lures, etc.), fine arts and photography, plants and produce (vegetables, fruits), gourds, apiary (beekeeping), floral arrangement, Christmas decorations, pottery/ceramics, clothing, needlecrafts (sewing, crocheting, quilting, etc.) and more.
Those entries are then broken down into two divisions: a junior division for youth (ages 18 and younger) and a senior division for adults (ages 19 and older).
For a complete list of the cate-gories, see the 2023 Cleveland County Fair tabloid available exclusively online at clevelandcountyherald.com The new digital version of the fair tabloid will allow people to print off individual pages that pertain to the categories or events they are interested in.
In addition, the tabloid contains entry forms for the Miss Cleveland County and Little Miss pageants, as well as livestock entries.
All exhibits, excluding livestock/poultry and baked goods, must be turned in between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. Livestock/poultry entries will enter between 4 and 7 p.m. that evening.
Baked goods may be entered from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.
