RISON - The candidates for Cleveland County Judge and Cleveland County Sheriff have been invited to participate in a political forum that will be held at 6 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Family Life Center at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2230 Hwy. 35 North at Rison.Pat Berry, chairman of the Cleveland County Republican Party, sponsor of the event, said the forum is open to the public and he encourages all interested parties to attend.The forum is being organized by the Cleveland County Republican Committee. Pastor Cody Robinson of Rison Baptist Church will moderate the forum that was originally scheduled for Jan. 27 but moved to this Thursday due to the winter storm.The winners in both the Republican primary election for county judge and sheriff will be unopposed in the November general elections since there are no other candidates in either race.The Cleveland County Herald is planning to live stream the forum over its Facebook page, and will also film the forum to make it available afterwards on its website at www.clevelandcountyherald.com Berry said all the candidates have been invited to participate.Those running for Cleveland County Judge are Jim Houston of the Rye community, Stephen McClellan of New Edinburg, Rosemary Sinclair of the Staves community, and Rickey Spencer of Kingsland.Those running for sheriff are Vance "Lee" Freeman and Keden Shrum, both of Rison, and Brad Young of the Rowell community.Berry noted that the event is a forum rather than a debate, noting that each candidate will have about a minute and a half to respond to the same question in each round.
