RISON - Voters interested in learning more about the Democratic candidates running for State Senate District 1, Arkansas Secretary of State and Fourth District of Congress will have an opportunity to meet them in person this Saturday in Rison.
The Democratic Party of Cleveland County is hosting a “Meet and Greet the Candidates” beginning at noon this Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Hall-Morgan Building, 404 Sycamore Street across the courthouse in Rison.
Candidates scheduled to be at the Meet and Greet include:
• Eudora Mayor Tomeka Butler, the Democratic candidate for the District 1 State Senate seat, who is running against Republican candidate Harrell Wilson of the Staves community.
• James “Rus” Russell of Little Rock, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for Arkansas’ 4th Congressional District, who is running against incumbent Republican Bruce Westerman of Hot Springs. Russell and his wife, Wendy, have lived in the greater central Arkansas region for over 25 years and have owned and operated an outpatient mental health business in Little Rock since 2014, according to localcandidates.org.
• Kelly Grappe of Rose Bud, the Democratic candidate for Secretary of State, will also be in attendance. Grappe is running against Republican Kim Hammer of Benton and Libertarian Michael Pakko of Little Rock. Grappe is a learning and development executive, according to her Linked In page.
