WOODLAWN - Construction is currently underway to install a new drainage system around the new addition at Woodlawn High School to accommodate the new fire escape doors that have been installed at the high school.
Fire escape doors, like the one in the center of this photo, were installed in each classroom to allow a quick exit in the event of a fire.
The Woodlawn School Board decided to install the doors rather than go with a more expensive option of try to increase the water pressure to bring the existing fire sprinkler system up to state standards. State law requires that each escape door open to a hard surface.
Once the drainage system is completed, concrete sidewalks will be constructed around the building.
