RISON - The Cleveland County Cooperative Extension office will be hosting a free “digital skills” training class to help teach people how to use the internet and digital devices from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 29, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street in Rison across from the courthouse.
Danielle Watson, family and consumer science agent for the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Office and organizer of the workshop, said students from the Rison High School EAST Lab will be on hand to help provide the training. Watson said the focus of this workshop will be developing strong passwords to protect your online information.
The digital skills training classes are an initiative of the Cleveland County Broadband Committee. The classes are designed to help those who may not be familiar with using the internet or digital devices like computers, smart phones or tablets.
Watson said laptop computers will be provided to those attending the training so participants will be able to get some hands-on training. While those attending do not have to register in advance, Watson said it would be helpful for anyone planning to come to call the Cleveland County Extension Office in advance at (870) 325-6321 to make sure to have enough laptops.
Watson said this will be the first digital skills workshop in Rison. She said those attending Tuesday’s workshop will be polled about other topics they would like to see sessions on.
