Foster Grandparent Program Needs Volunteers at Rison

RISON - Classroom Grandparents are needed at Rison Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. The Southeast Arkansas Education Cooperative has received a federal grant to expand the Foster Grandparent Program to Cleveland County. This national program places volunteers in the classroom and gives community members a chance to help their local school, while also staying active and socially involved after retirement. The program has been established in Southeast Arkansas for over thirty years and has served several other counties and schools. Volunteers receive a small hourly stipend as well as mileage reimbursement for their services. The stipend is not taxable and is not reportable as income, nor does is affect eligibility for other benefits. We ask that volunteers serve a minimum of 12 hours per week. Applicants are required to complete a background check, that is paid for by the program. We currently recruiting for Rison Elementary and many other sites and counties. For more information on this program and to apply for a volunteer position, please contact Andy Pruitt with the SEARK Foster Grandparent Program at 870-367-4813. ...
