KINGSLAND - Mark your calendars. The Get Rhythm Music Festival is coming back to First Street in downtown Kingsland Saturday, Sept. 26, and this year the lineup is packed from sunup to sundown. Hosted by Kickstart Kingsland, the free festival runs all day. Gates open at 9 a.m. with a grand parade, and the day winds up at 6 p.m. with the Savage .308 rifle raffle drawing and BBQ Cook-Off awards. There is something for every age. Kids get a full zone of their own with two bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, a big slide, a human gyroscope ride, a train ride, face painting, balloon animals, and a music workshop led by local musicians. Adults can jump into the BBQ Cook-Off, the 5K Walk and Run, the cornhole or horseshoe tournaments, or just grab a plate from one of the food vendors and enjoy the music. The day also features a car show open to cars, trucks, ATVs, side-by-sides, motorcycles, and tractors. Beauty pageants for girls and for boys will take the stage in the late morning, followed by a watermelon eating contest at noon. Live music runs all afternoon, starting with the Young Artists Showcase at 11 a.m., a Gospel Hour at 12:30, and local bands through the evening. Incoming Mayor Samantha Johnson said the festival is about more than music. "Get Rhythm is really a love letter to Kingsland," she said. "Our neighbors, our kids, our businesses, our heritage. This is the day we put it all on display and invite folks from every county over to come see it." Admission is free. Food and drink are sold by local vendors, and a limited number of vendor booths are still open for anyone who wants to set up shop for the day. Raffle tickets for the Savage .308 rifle are on sale now at $10 each or three for $20.
