Halloween Events Slated Across County This Week

RISON - On the witch’s heels of last weekend’s Haunted Village in Rison, local community groups and businesses are closing out the spooky season with more Halloween events across the county beginning this Saturday.

Rison Shine and the Pioneer Village will host a new Haunted Escape Room activity at the Village (200 Yaney Drive) Saturday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 11 p.m.

Reservations are required for the timed event. The cost is $10 per person to enter the escape room. There is a limit of six people per time slot.

Organizers have said if the escape rooms fill up on Saturday evening, a second round of rooms would be set for Monday, Oct. 31.

New Edinburg

Also on Saturday, Re-Newing Edinburg will host a Drive-Thru Fall Festival from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the New Edinburg Community Center.

The Drive-Thru Festival is essentially a Trunk-or-Treat in re‐verse, where people drive through a route to pick up candy rather than walking vehicle-tovehicle.

Then on Halloween night, Ri‐son Shine will hold its annual Trunk-or-Treat event, Monday, Oct. 31 in Downtown Rison.

Candy-filled vehicles and tents will distribute candy beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street. Lo‐cal churches, community groups are invited to attend. There is no pre-registration for spaces, but those participating are asked to be in place no later than 5:15 p.m.

Candy may be donated in ad‐vance at the Cleveland County Herald office located at 215 Main Street.

Green House Cottages October Fest Carnival Trunk-or-Treat will be followed by the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills October Fest Carnival beginning at 6 p.m. along the drive passing through the nursing home.

Free activities for the Green House Cottages’ October Fest will include a hayride, fish pingpong, bouncy houses, face painting, cake walk, bean-bag toss, nacho stand, snow cone truck, balloons and a Halloween costume contest.
