Hwy. 79-63 Junk Hunt Route Sees An Extension This Year

RISON - The seventh annual Hwy. 79-63 Junk Hunt Loop begins this Thursday, Oct. 6, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 8 with miles of yard sales throughout Cleveland County and beyond. Junk Hunt organizer Jennifer King said the Junk Hunt will follow the same route as it has in previous years, but is now expanded on towards Strong.  Starting at the Hwy. 79 exit at Interstate 530 in Pine Bluff and proceeding south along Hwy. 79 through Watson Chapel, Rison, Kingsland and eventually to Fordyce. At Fordyce, the route turns east along Hwy. 8 passing through New Edinburg on its way to Warren.  At Warren, the hunt takes two paths, one turns north on Hwy. 63 heading back to Pine Bluff through the Cleveland County communities of Rye, Pansy, Rowell, Calmer, Woodlawn and Randall.  The second path, heads south on Hwy. 63 through Hermitage and on through Morro Bay where Hwy. 63 meets Hwy. 275 and heads to Strong. In addition to the individual sales set up along the route, Cleveland County will feature two locations of bulk sales. The Pioneer Village at Rison is holding its vendor hub again this year. According to Sharon Gray, the Village has one exhibit hall full of vendors with additional vendors setting up outside the building. Re-New-ing Edinburg will also benefit from sales at the old store in downtown New Edinburg.  “All profits of items donated for the Junk Hunt go back into the community for various projects,” said Patricia McClellan of the Re-New-ing Edinburg group. ...
