PINE BLUFF - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division announced Monday that it had identified the body of man found in the Arkansas River as Dennis Dees, 53, of Kingsland.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported that investigators had recovered the body that had been found in the water by fishermen just down from the Lock and Dam 5 in Jefferson County. At that time, the identity of the man was unknown.
Major Gary McClain of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said there were no obvious signs of foul play, leading investigators to believe that the death was either medical or drowning related. He said it appeared that Dees had been fishing from the bank along the river. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.
